Hot buttered cider

Serves 4

  1. 4tb maple syrup
  2. 4tb butter, cut into small pieces and chilled
  3. 1 quart fresh cider
  4. 1/2 cup dark rum
  5. 4 cinnamon sticks
  6. Fresh nutmeg
  • Heat maple syrup on medium heat; do not let boil. Whisk in butter. Whisk in 3-5 and heat until warmed through. Divide, top with nutmeg and serve immediately.
