Crockpot U.S. Senate soup

Serves 6

  1. 2 onions
  2. 2 cloves garlic
  3. 1tb onion
  4. 1/2tsp thyme
  5. 1lb navy beans
  6. 7 cups chicken broth
  7. 2 cups water
  8. 8oz ham steak
  9. 3 carrots in 1/2in slices
  10. 1 rinsed ham hock
  11. 1tsp red wine vinegar
  • Microwave 1-4 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add mixture to crockpot with 5-10. Cook on low for 9-10 hours or on high for 6-7 hours.
  • Skin and shred ham hock and add meat back to soup with vinegar and salt and pepper. Let sit 5 minutes.
